Plot Summary for V:TM Chicago 2024

In modern-day Chicago, a city brimming with both mortal and supernatural intrigue, a secret society operates under the radar of the Camarilla. This society, led by the enigmatic Tremere Lady Morganna, is known as the Techno-Eclipse Conclave. Their goal is to merge ancient thaumaturgy with cutting-edge technology, believing that the Camarilla is stagnating by not embracing modern advancements. However, Morganna’s ambitions have attracted the attention of The Architect, an ancient technomantic Methuselah. He has been subtly manipulating events from his hidden torpor, guiding both Kindred and technology to serve his mysterious purposes.

The campaign begins with a group of humans who are unwittingly drawn into Morganna’s world. An EMT, a SWAT officer, a young tech prodigy, and an antiquarian occultist—each has been carefully guided by The Architect to be in the right place at the right time. They are led to a clandestine meeting at the Newberry Library, where Morganna, following The Architect’s subtle nudges, eventually embraces them as ghouls. Now part of her secretive society, they quickly become embroiled in the complex politics of Chicago’s Kindred, especially after the city’s leadership is overthrown by the Toreador, Clara Evans.

As these new ghouls begin to navigate their changed lives, they uncover a dangerous splinter group operating within the city. This group, known as the Order of the Eclipsed Dawn, is performing rituals that combine occult practices with modern technology. Their goal is to summon and bind a powerful entity called the Shadow Seraph, a being that exists between the worlds of the living and the digital. The ghouls find crucial documents in an abandoned warehouse, revealing the group’s intentions and their pursuit of powerful artifacts, including the Amulet of Whispers—an ancient relic that could alter the balance of power in the city.

Meanwhile, the technomantic entity Echo begins to interfere with the ghouls, focusing particularly on Joanna, the tech prodigy. Echo sends cryptic messages and manipulates digital environments to guide and control her actions. As Echo’s influence grows, it leads the ghouls into increasingly dangerous situations, all while remaining an elusive and enigmatic presence.

The ghouls face a critical challenge with Vincent St. Clair, a rogue ghoul of The Architect. Vincent has become a significant player in Chicago’s supernatural underworld. His occult shop, Seraphims & Shadows, is a hub of supernatural activity. The ghouls, under Morganna’s guidance, must retrieve the Amulet of Whispers from Vincent. However, Vincent’s growing paranoia and distrust of Morganna complicate their mission, especially as he becomes aware of their intentions.

As they delve deeper into Chicago’s supernatural underworld, the ghouls must navigate the complex politics of the Kindred, the dangers of technomantic forces, and the looming threat of the Order of the Eclipsed Dawn. Each step brings them closer to uncovering The Architect’s true plans, the nature of the Shadow Seraph, and the potential disaster if the wrong hands seize control of the city’s mystical and technological powers.

In a city where every shadow hides a secret and every ally could become an enemy, the ghouls must use all their newfound abilities and knowledge to survive. Their success in the mission, or their fall into becoming pawns in a larger, more dangerous game, depends on the choices they make and the alliances they forge in this web of supernatural intrigue.
