Overall, all of the player characters create a well-rounded team capable of tackling the myriad challenges they face in the dark and supernatural underworld of Chicago.

Aaqilah Al-Hāshimī

Aaqilah comes from a wealthy and prestigious family with deep roots in both academia and religion. Her father is a renowned scholar with a focus on sociology and economics, while her mother is an accomplished mathematician and financial analyst.

Aaqilah grew up with a thirst for knowledge, particularly in the occult, which eventually led her to study hidden lore and mystical traditions. Her obsession with the occult distanced her from her family, leading her to travel and study ancient texts and artifacts.

Aaqilah’s Role in the Campaign

Aaqilah is the group’s occult expert, with a deep understanding of esoteric knowledge and mystical practices. She works at Vincent St. Clair’s shop, Seraphims & Shadows, cataloging occult items and dealing with consignment clients.

Aaqilah’s connection to the occult makes her a valuable asset in uncovering the mysteries of the splinter group and the artifacts they seek. Her recent transformation into a ghoul under Morganna’s guidance ties her fate closely to the supernatural power struggles in Chicago.

Joanna Heart

Joanna is a young tech prodigy who recently graduated at the top of her class from Chicago University. She grew up in a middle-class family, with a close relationship with her mother, who passed away from cancer when Joanna was a teenager.

Joanna’s father is a CEO, often absent due to work, leaving her to develop a deep bond with technology as a means of connection and control. Joanna’s expertise in computers and technology made her highly sought after by major companies, but she finds herself drawn into the darker side of tech through her interactions with Echo, a technomantic entity that has begun to influence her life.

Joanna is the group’s technology expert, handling the digital aspects of their investigations. She is currently employed at Midnight Tech Solutions, where she deals with high-level cybersecurity threats. Her connection to Echo has put her at the center of a technomantic conspiracy, making her both a target and a key player in the unfolding events.

Nico Nolan

Nico is a former SWAT officer and current law enforcement agent with a tragic past. He grew up in a small city before moving to Chicago due to his sister’s severe illness. After her death, Nico fell in with the wrong crowd but was saved by a kind janitor who introduced him to Aikido.

This experience led Nico to pursue a career in law enforcement, where he excelled due to his physical prowess and dedication. Recently, he’s become entangled in the supernatural world after witnessing things that defy logical explanation.

Nico’s Role in the Campaign

Nico serves as the group’s muscle and tactician. His background in law enforcement and SWAT tactics makes him invaluable in physical confrontations and strategic planning. Nico’s recent exposure to the supernatural has shaken his previously solid belief in the physical world, forcing him to adapt quickly to the new dangers he faces.

Rex

Rex started his career as a car mechanic but quickly grew bored with the work. His desire to help people led him to volunteer as a firefighter, eventually transitioning into the role of an EMT after extensive training.

Rex is a skilled driver and first responder, known for keeping a cool head under pressure. He takes pride in his ability to save lives, but recent events involving the supernatural have started to challenge his understanding of what’s truly at play in the world.

Rex is the group’s medical expert and driver.
