Zombies,Run! for Android! Pt1

GamerGrrls RunsLast week (I think), Six to Start released the Android version of Zombies, Run! I FINALLY got to download it. Of course, I was only able to go out and mess with it once or twice last week since it was raining. Not unusual for summer in Holland, but never the less, annoying.

Well, now that I got the GPS working correctly on the zombies run app, my playlist straightened out (as much as I love Epica, I was done with hearing the Obsessive Devotion on loop for 45 minutes), and my bicycle seat upgraded to something that isn’t going to rub me raw in places girls shouldn’t be rubbed raw I’m up to Mission 3.

Now, mind, most people that I know of are using this for running. Due to a foot injury, I’m stuck to cycling, but honestly you can use this on a treadmill (which I have) if you wanted to. The only difference between using it walking, running, jogging, cycling, horseback riding, roller skating, etc and a human sized hamster wheel is you can’t use GPS on the hamster wheel.

With that being said, what’s my thoughts on this app? I love it! Up until I got a little enthusiastic and went out for a 2hr ride on the wrong bicycle seat, I’ve been trying to get out cycling daily so I can continue the mission. I think I did mission 1 and 2 at least 3 times each by accident (trying to get my playlist to work), until Six to Start updated and allowed you to continue a mission after you quit it last week.

The story line is fun, I love picking up items to level up my base and unlock other missions, and the zombie chases have been killer! I’m no Louis Armstrong when it comes to cycling, but I’ve got to say I’ve been hauling ass so far! I did get caught once and for some reason, even though I was really hauling ass today during 2 chases (no way those zombies could have caught me!) I got caught. Maybe it’s an error after the sync? I haven’t been able to figure that out yet.

Overall, I think this is the coolest of my armory of fitness apps and probably the most accurate of the distance trackers I’ve been using. I’m really looking forward to multi-player missions since several of my gamer friends also cycle!

Here are some of my public rides so far:

Mission 1

Mission 2

Mission 3
